Meet Our Team of Shipibo Healers
Maestro Wilder
Wilder travels to us from his Shipibo community Nativa Vista Alegra located in the Ucayali region of Peru. His Shipibo name Reshin Jisma translates to being a strong individual or type of protector. He has been working with sacred plant teachers for over 20 years.
Wilder was born into a long family lineage of onayas (healers) with the ancient wisdom of plants being passed down from generation to generation- his grandfather taught his father, and his father started teaching him their family’s shamanic methods as a young man.
He sings his icaros (healing songs) with glorious light-filled power and strength, yet he practices his gifts as an Amazonian doctor with incredible nuance knowing that every patient has different needs in ceremony. Wilder’s favorite trees are Renaco, Shihuahuaco, and Floripondio- all of which are extremely powerful medicines reserved for advanced curanderos only.
Wilder says his purpose as a healer is to protect and heal his patients as he would his own friends and family.
Maestro Damian
Damian was born with the Shipibo name Senen Yui, meaning “everyone is equal.” This beautiful name given to him at birth were the foundational bricks on his path to becoming a curandero who treats all of his patients with the same attention and care as his own family. He was born into a family of Shipibo onayas (healers) and has carried his family lineage of shamanic healing arts from his grandfather.
Originally from the Shipibo community of Nazareth, he now lives in Iquitos where he works with patients all over the world in ceremonies and dietas. He has 26 years of experience working as a curandero, and has spent several years working a large ayahuasca center in the Amazon working exclusively with foreigners.
Damian brings a strong but gentle presence in his ceremonies. His mission is to support and help people who may be suffering. His favorite plants two favorite plants are Bobinsana and Marosa- two plants which often used to mend broken hearts.
Maestra Luz
Maestra Luz travels to Cusco from Pucallpa, originally born and raised in the Ucayali community of Puerto Firmeza.
Luz began her apprenticeship with plant diets and ayahuasca at the tender age of 15. Her grandfather was a powerful and well respected doctor of ayahuasca shamanism, and was her original teacher on the path of curanderismo. Luz was so inspired by her grandfather as a little girl work that she decided to follow in his footsteps when she was a teenager. By the time she was 21 years old she was already holding her own healing ceremonies for people in her community.
As a wisdom keeper of her grandfather’s knowledge, Luz brings to her work a deep gratitude for the rainforest and its medicines. She is very proud of her family lineage, and considers it to be a great honor to walk the same path of service as her ancestors.
Her favorite plants are piñon colorado and ajosquiro which she says are the ones that contain beautiful energies and open the world of visions.
